World War II brought about many changes in lifestyle when many sons, brothers and husbands joined the military forces and families had to learn to cope without them. Rationing of such items as sugar, butter, meat, tea, coffee, and gasoline as well as making do with old cars and poor tires, proved a challenge to everyone.
After the war ended in 1945 life slowly began to return to what it was prior to September of 1939 when Canada joined the Allied forces in World War II.
