I am a retired science and math teacher from Pembroke. I have many hobbies including woodworking. My first "carvings" were 40 years ago. As an avid duck hunter, I needed some decoys which I made from styrofoam. They turned out well so I got a book of patterns and started making shelf model decoys out of cedar. My "production model" is the Ruddy duck with the dark cedar inlays. I don't think anybody else makes them that way. Another book of figurine patterns got me started in that direction about 20 years ago. After learning how to carve them, I started creating my own patterns, mostly comic book characters. Today I complete one or two figurines a year -retirement is a busy business.
