Skiing in Revelstoke is alive and well and thriving. There are more opportunities now for different forms of skiing than there were 100 years ago. The equipment and technology has expanded to greater and greater heights but there is no more enthusiasm today than there was in the 1890's when Revelstoke citizens had their first taste of skiing. The enthusiasm and dedication has remained intact through the years and locals have shown their support of skiing in various forms, whether cross-country skiing, backcountry skiing, jumping, downhill or slalom. As well, citizens have shown their support by raising funds for the Ski Club, judging events, organizing tournaments, scheduling dances and socials, grooming trails, coaching youth, leading tours or writing columns in the local paper. The tradition of skiing and all that is associated with it is a part of life in Revelstoke.

The newest addition in the skiing annals is the development of Revelstoke Mountain Resort (RMR). In 2005, RMR bought the ski hill (Powder Springs) from the City of Revelstoke. In 2006, they bought Cat Powder Skiing and in 2007 they bought Selkirk Tangiers heli-skiing. This gives RMR access to 500,000 acres of terrain and gives them an entire "package" to market to the ski world: downhill, cat skiing and heli-skiing.

RMR's opening day was December 22, 2007. The parking lot was half full at 6:30 am, people were so eager to try out the new hill. A gondola and high-speed quad were the new additions to the mountain, as well as ski runs emanating from the summit giving 1400 vertical meters of skiing. The dreams of skiers that had started back in the early 1960's had come to fruition.
