In the early 1980's new cabin lots were sold by the Parks Board on the west side of the lake. It was at this time that the first permanent residents of the lake, Bud and Mimi Weikle, built their home by the boat launch in 1982.

Results of B.P.O. Elks 31st Annual Ball Tournament At Atton's Lake

Atton's Lake Regional Park was the scene of a great deal of activity this past weekend as the Cut Knife Elks held their 31st annual ball tournament and Sports Day. The excitement started Friday with the opening up of a midway - the first ever for this area. It was set up in the afternoon, and open for business in the evening. Being a kid at heart, I love every minute of a midway. I think it was a fantastic thing to add to an already exciting weekend.

Sixteen ball teams came from all over to take part in the tournament. There were a lot of excellent, fast paced games, thoroughly enjoyed by the large crowd of fans. Unfortunately, not every team can come away a winner, but they all gave it their best shot. First place winners on the "A" side were the Edgerton Eagles. Second place winners on the "A" side were the Prince Colts. On the "B" Side, first place went to Maymont, and second place went to Leask. Sincerest congratulations to all the winners.

The Clubhouse was fairly rocking on Saturday night, to the beat of an excellent band named Rees-X. They played to a capacity crowd and again entertained everyone on Sunday afternoon from the outdoor stage by the concession booth. Terrific music!

The evening was topped off with a dazzling display of fireworks. They were set off at 10:45 p.m. and lit up the sky. They were very well set up and ended with applause from a very appreciative audience.

Three cheers to the Elks for co-ordinating a very successful weekend.

Donn Levere Gets Hole-In-One

Sunday, May 26th was a beautiful day for golfing. The course at Atton's Lake, maintained by Heath Fairley is in beautiful condition.
Ken and Lorna Sayers, accompanied by Lorna's dad, Donn Levere, went out for a game on Sunday morning. As they approached the 7th hole, Donn discovered that he had made a HOLE-IN-ONE.
Most golfers never experience the thrill of a hole-in-one, but this is the second time for Donn - the first time was in 1983 in Scottsdale, Arizona, while golfing with Jack Barr and two other friends.
