Following in his father's footsteps, Harris Brown served a five year term as president of the North Renfrew Agricultural Society.
During his second year of presidency, a fire swept through the Exhibition Park destroying most of the buildings including the Main Hall built by his grandfather Augustus.
Harris, a few days after the fire, together with the board of directors and interested people, began a building campaign to build a new Main Hall on the site of the old. Harris supervised the construction and diligently assisted as a a carpenter.
