The Marchand Bridge was one of the many bridges built by Augustus Brown throughout the county. The photo shows the bridge as it is today, still in use and locally referred to as the "Red Bridge".
Over the years , the bridge has had many restorations with the help of fundraising and government grants, from 1939 through to 1997 when the piers were replaced.
Presently, the bridge is the second longest covered bridge in Quebec measuring 151.59 m. (497 feet and 3 inches) in length. It is constructed entirely of pine.
The original pine lumber for the bridge was from the farm of Augustus Brown's farm near Beachburg ,Ontario, Canada. It was hauled by horse via an ice bridge over the Ottawa River which connected Ontario and Quebec near Waltham, Quebec.
