In 1911 Mr. Walter Thompson moved to the North Sydney, Nova Scotia cable office. One of his fellow employees there happened to be a twelve-year-old messenger boy called Dave Watson. The names of those two men Walter Thompson and Dave Watson were closely associated with the cable office 44 years later, when in 1955, Walter Thompson was the Superintendent and Dave Watson was the station electrician.

Dave Watson who started in the Western Union as a messenger and later became chief electrician. He worked for the Western Union for about 44 years.
