Over the years, Red Lake has attracted thousands of people to this Northwestern region of Ontario. Although a rather small community, it is rich in culture and heritage and is surrounded by pristine wilderness, most of which has yet to be discovered.

For most, it is no coincidence that they came to settle in Red Lake. Their incentives for coming are as diverse as the individuals themselves.

Red Lake’s claim to fame was due primarily to the gold rush of 1926. This event alone brought thousands of workers from around the world, many of whom have stayed to this present day to call this community home.

More than 21 million ounces of gold have been extracted from underneath the many lakes, rocks and trees that surround this area. Prospectors are still discovering major high grade ore deposits and gold mining continues to drive the local economy.
