This series of photos will show some before and after photos of the Quaker farms along Yonge Street in present Newmarket.
The first photo is of the Phillips family farmhouse. The Phillips, who came with Timothy Rogers, received a crown deed for lot 89 and held it until 1915. when they sold it to John Buckle. (This photo is in 1998)

The Armstrong House was located about a half mile further north of the Phillips house on the original Gamble farm. The beautiful farm house was used by the developers as a sales office.

When the developers were ready to build the subdivision the house was moved to a location north of Davis and Yonge behind the Canadian Tire store. The intention was to use it for a small office, doctor, lawyer building.

Armstrong house after vandals struck

Before anything could happen vandals who had been living in the house torched it and luckily only the roof was burned. There was extensive damage to the interior. The developer appears to be waiting for the sale of another moved house on the property to pay for the rebuilding.

This is the North West corner of Yonge and Mulock in 1930. This was lot 96, a crown grant of 200 acres to Obadiah Rogers in 1835.
