North Caroline #4717

North Caroline school opened April 8, 1936 in a log cabin on the Walter Bowers' place (NW-35-36-6-5). The first teacher was Miss Ruby Richardson from Bowden. In the summer of 1938 a new school was built on the south end of the same quarter. It was still a one-room school, but in comparison to the log cabin it was a castle! It had hardwood floors and indoor chemical toilets. The school was then moved to the Dovercourt Hall site in 1954. In 1959 the school was closed and the building sold to a Leslieville farmer.
