ABOUT GREENWOOD
Phoebe Hyde first came to Como, a village on the south side of the Lake of Two Mountains just west of Montreal when she was a child visiting her grandparents. Como is now incorporated in the town of Hudson. In Phoebe's early days the area was very much a place where well-to-do people from Montreal had their summer residence. When she was fourteen her parents acquired Greenwood. It was the summer house of her mother's family and it contained generations of family treasures. "Ah..." she had remarked then, "this is going to be my museum!" When, later on, she finally made it her own home it became the focus for many events and entertainments she organised, a place alive with readings and discussion groups. Phoebe brought more flowers to Greenwood's gardens and her probing mind became a colourful asset in the community.
