From 1963 to 1983 there was a rodeo on the September long weekend. Members of the community revived the Rodeo in 1993. It was formley held in the Ashern Arena but once the artifical ice was put in, it disbanded. When it started up again, new grounds were established south of Ashern near the Airport.

The parade was an exciting time for the visitors and locals. People from various organizations would dress up in costume, people of all ages would ride their horses, men would drive old tractors, businesses had floats all of which added to the spirit of the Rodeo weekend.

Today the Rodeo is held at the Rodeo grounds along #6 highway about 2 km from the town. It is still an exciting time for competitors and spectators.
