In the summer of 1998 the railway was removed. It was shocking to see the tracks in the state of removal. The door of time closed on this chapter of the lives of people in Ashern and the surrounding areas.
The railway changed the area and the removal of these tracks is a symbol of how people and artifacts will disappear without a trace, if not for the work of the Ashern Pioneer Museum board and members to recall and record such events.
