After many years of frustration and dedicated work, Sundre can now boast of being one of the best rural hospitals in the Province of Alberta. Today, there are 10 Doctors who practice in the 2 clinics and the hospital. Some of the facilities include long-term care, acute care beds, emergency department, a clinic and health unit that offers multiple therapies.

New Health Care Service

Beginning the first week in September, some familiar faces will be seen more regularly around the corridors of the Sundre General Hospital.
Emergency Medical Technicians (E.M.T.'s), employed by the Sundre & District E.M.S. Society (formerly known as the Sundre Ambulance), will begin a regular volunteer service at the hospital during their scheduled working hours when they are not out on an ambulance call.
This arrangement is the result of a request by the Sunder E.M.S. Society Board to the Board of the Sundre General Hospital. The Sundre E.M.S. Society Board anticipates that the E.M.T.'s will gain valuable emergency care experience on a more regular basis, and that their presence will be promoted in the community. In agreeing to this request, the Hospital Board anticipates that the volunteer services of the E.M.T. staff at the hospital on a regular basis will benefit the hospital staff and patients, especially during evenings, nights and weekends.
The E.M.T.'s will work under the supervision of registered nurses while at the hospital. Their duties will basically include assisting with outpatients, some minor in-patient care procedures, and hospital security procedures.
The Sundre General Hospital welcomes this association with the Sundre & District E.M.S. Society. It should prove beneficial to both organizations and to this district in the provision of health care.
