For over 100 years women of the Eastern Townships have been involved in groups and organizations which are advocating the wellbeing of women within their family and community on matters such as education, health, citizenship and agriculture.
Women are interested in getting involved with their community on a local level but also with concerns that affect us all from a global perspective.
This exhibition is an exploration into the heritage of women's groups in the Eastern Townships. Three women's groups have here been selected to explain the existence and actions of 'Women working in collectivity' and how they have fought for the wellbeing of the community. Collaboration, solidarity and empowerment are all important qualities that reflect the work of women's groups in the Eastern Townships and, interestingly enough, these components are also essential to the wellbeing of a community.
Through the looking glass, we can see inspiring women from the past and present who continue to strive for the wellbeing of their communities.
