Like many small communities throughout the province of Newfoundland and Labrador, Bell Island faces a number of difficult challenges on a regular basis: out-migration, isolation and a struggling local economy. The islanders' love of community and dedication to the local hospital, however, have helped them survive the hard times. Discover in this exhibit the history of health care on Bell Island over the last 100 years. This exhibit demonstrates that, with a little creativity and a lot of heart, even the smallest community can triumph over adversity.
