Creator(s): Fernie and District Historical Society Museum
The history of Fernie, British Columbia, has been intimately tied to coal. The abundance of this resource attracted a wave of immigrants to the Fernie area beginning in 1897. From its beginning as a collection of one roughshod log structures, Fernie's residents have revealed a participation in and love of sports. This exhibit and its storyline attempt to illustrate this through images and the collective memories of the people who lived them.
