Getting Here From There

Creator(s): Revelstoke Museum and Archives

Building roads for transportation in the Rocky Mountains is quite a challenge! Just imagine the difficulties that explorers and First Nations using waterways would have encountered while fur trading.

Imagine the construction of a railway that was to link the east and west of Canada. Mountain travel is dangerous, even in good conditions, and even more so during winter. This exhibit features photographs and documents that recall the many tragic events that took place on the railway.

Discover the history of steamships and roads that made transportation in the Revelstoke District possible.
