There’s a rich mining
history in Baie Verte,
Newfoundland that continues
to the present day—and the
Miners Museum in the
community digs deep into its
lore. Located at Terra Nova
Mine, which operated from
1860 until 1864 and again
between 1901 and 1915, the
| exhibit covers the range of
minerals and rocks found in
the Baie Verte Peninsula that
made the mines a valuable
going concern.
A tunnel in the museum
simulates an underground mine
which visitors can walk
through to view the many
mining artifacts for a trip
| back to a time when mining
was a lifeblood of this
community.
