Taming the Kootenay

Creator(s): Creston and District Historical and Museum Society

Taming the Kootenay is the story of more than a century of struggle to reclaim the floodplain from the annual floods of the Kootenay River in British Columbia. The success, however, is precarious: two devastating floods and several years of threateningly high water serve as reminders that, although the Kootenay River has been controlled, it is not yet completely tamed.
