The Empress of Ireland, a forgotten history

Creator(s): Site historique maritime de la Pointe-au-Père

On June 29, 1906, the Canadian Pacific steamship Empress of Ireland sailed on its maiden voyage down the Saint Lawrence. In 1914, after a stopover on the Québec City - Liverpool run, the ship was stove in by another and went to the bottom off Pointe-au-Père.

The exhibit tells the story of this maritime tragedy that resulted in the loss of 1012 lives.
