Dans cette leçon, les élèves exploreront les cheminements de carrière liés à l’Arctique. Ils rencontreront plusieurs scientifiques du Musée canadien de la nature (MCN). Ils découvriront aussi les exigences scolaires, les descriptions de tâches et les possibilités de carrière en sciences naturelles.

Cadre et materiel :
- Cette leçon devrait couvrir 20 minutes à 1 période de classe complet (niveau 9 à 12).
- Ordinateurs avec accès à Internet peuvent être utilisés pour explorer le site expeditionarctic.ca, qui suit la carrière des chercheurs.
- Un cahier pour écrire observations et réflexions.

Activité suggérée
Demander aux élèves de choisir quelqu'un dont la carrière qui les intéresse. Demandez-leur de lire sur les chercheurs et à en apprendre davantage sur leur carrières. Ils devraient réfléchir aux questions suivantes :

Quel est le cheminement de sa carrière?
- Qu’ai-je appris sur cette carrière?
- Quels aspects de cette carrière m’apparaissent les plus intéressants?
- Qu’est-ce que je perçois comme des défis dans cette carrière?
- Qu’est-ce que j’aimerais savoir de plus sur cette carrière?
- Comment puis-je m’engager dans ce genre de carrière?

Proposez un « cocktail party » : Les élèves se promènent dans la classe et se présentent à leurs collègues comme s’ils étaient le personnage dont ils ont étudié la carrière. Ils devraient pouvoir dire leur nom, leur carrière, comment ils ont réussi à exercer ce métier et des faits intéressants sur leur travail.
