Father Belcourt arrives ( 0:54 min 1.4 MB )

In 1859, Father Belcourt came from North Dakota to Quebec City and it was just at this time that the pastor of St. Augustine's Parish here in Rustico was in ill health. He was in his eighties and he wrote a letter to the Bishop of Quebec asking the Bishop to send a priest to Rustico who could speak French. So Father Belcourt accepted to come to Rustico. So, he arrived here in early December of 1859 and from 1859 he laboured here in the parish of St. Augustine's for a ten year period and did an immense amount of work.
