Interviewer:
Was...during the war was there any military influence, or presence -sorry- in the Ioco townsite?

Mr. Laidlaw:
Yes, they had..the, 'Home Guard,' was stationed there and..they were all soldiers from the..First World War, and they were moved out to Ioco to protect the Imperial Oil. And they had a perimeter all around the refinery. And they lived at different places in Ioco. They took over the hall and they had bunks and everything in there. I wasn't around at that time but my mother told me about it. And they used to..the captain of the group was Captain Worthington, and he lived down in the corner house which used to be..the assistant superintendant's house.
