In the early days of the St. Ignatius Church at Petersville, the priest traveled from Fredericton. The first resident priest was Father Luke O'Regan, appointed in 1860. The church rectory, pictured here, was located to the right of the church.

Each one of these small churches had its own history and stories to tell. In the nearby cemetaries rest the remains of a hardy group of pioneers who carved a life out of the wilderness. Each church and tombstone speaks to the values of a community: love of family, the land, and God.
