As far as Stewart could see, little had changed in the Innisfail community; there were fewer people he knew, and Penhold and Bowden now had air bases, but otherwise the town was much the same. Shortly after returning home, Stewart married Florence Fisher from Aberdeen, a community east of Innisfail, and they had a son, Richard, and two daughters. Stewart worked for the town after the end of the war, running a Bobcat and putting in rural electricity. He later worked at the Bowden Penitentiary for thrity six years as Provincial Government Administration officer and federally he was in Financial Administration. Stewart was also with the Provincial Command of the Legion for 20 years until he retired in June 2003.
