Just moving the house was not enough. Kilmer and MacDonell needed to refinish the Misener house in order to have it look the way it did in the 1860s. Upon the house's arrival at Westfield, it was in need of refurbishment. With great care, Westfield placed the house on a new foundation and began to repair the house, leaving as many of the original pieces as possible.
