SYSCO Boundary Buffer Zone

In November 2003 the executive of the Whitney Pier Museum met with SYSCO (the former Sydney Steel Plant Corporation), now the government agency responsible for the cleanup of an extended steel plant site. Referred to as the "SYSCO Boundary Buffer Zone", the area is between the former steel plant boundaries and the community.

Although only a preliminary discussion, as part of a major community organization, it is hoped that museum members will be able to contribute to the dialogue.

Jewish Youth Tours

With the former Jewish Synagogue housing the community's only museum and the rich Jewish history in the "Pier", the museum has also become a popular destination for organized tours.

The Whitney Pier Museum is now an important part of the Jewish Heritage Tours organized for cruise ship passengers and Jewish Youth Groups visiting the area.
