In 1930, 30 acres was purchased from the Atton's by the R.M. of Cut Knife for $550 to use as a Municipal Park. In 1956 the R.M. leased the park to the Elks for 33 years and it was later made into a Regional Park and it is still a Regional Park operated by a Regional Parks Board.

In about 1935 Harry Clysdale from Wilkie moved a large pavilion from near Wilkie to be used as a dance hall. This was a great undertaking considering the narrow roads and hills. He hired bands to come and play and it brought a lot of people to the lake. The kids and ones who couldn't dance would stand outside and watch.
