1840s Dr. Ferguson
Dr. Ferguson placed an ad in 1847 in the Weekly Dispatch stating "Dr. Ferguson will remain a short time in Peterboro, and attend to all diseases of the eyes, such in particular as straightening and restoring sight by operations"
It seems that Dr. Ferguson may have been just passing through the area.
1842-1849 Dr. John Gilchrist
Previous to moving into Peterborough, Dr. Gilchrist practiced in Keene, Otonabee Township. Dr. Gilchrist was very involved in local politics.
He was in town from 1842 till 1849 before moving to Port Hope to set up practice with his 4 brothers.
