The Huskies next signifcant season was during the 1992 season in which SMU won the Jewett Trophy when they defeated Mount Allison 32-10, and won the Atlantic Bowl 21-11 over the Calgary Dinos. But like year's before they could not win the Vanier Cup when they lost again. This time it was against Queen's University by the score of 31-0. The next time in which SMU went to the Vanier Cup was during the 1999 season in which they won their 15th Jewett Trophy when they defeated Acadia 25-24, and won their sixth Atlantic Bowl when they defeated the Waterloo Warriors 21-14. In that season's Vanier Cup, SMU lost the game to Laval by the score of 14-10.

At the end of the 20th century, SMU was a successful team. In total the Huskies won a total of 22 championships, with the most being the Jewett Trophy.
