Honour, A Poem by Erika Campbell, Grade 7, NRHS
Fall 2011
New Richmond High School, New Richmond, Quebec Canada

Honour

Thank you for all the things you've done,

For us,

Your family,

And loved ones.

You've sacrificed your life,

You battled with all your heart,

You have done your best,

To win that battle without requests.

For your country,

Your homeland,

Without pity,

As a good person.

That is why,

We honour you,

With medals,

And all our love.

Death, A Poem by Kyle Campbell, Grade 7, NRHS
Fall 2011
New Richmond High School, New Richmond, Quebec Canada

Death

Planes bombing.

Submarines diving.

Soldiers attacking.

Tanks driving.

The smell of death in the air.

The blood puddles.

We are outnumbered.

They are out gunned.

Smell of smoke.

Sound of gun fire.

Good vs bad.

Blood sheds.

Medics run.

No one is having fun.

Some old.

Some young.

People die because of a lie.

The Fallen, A Poem by Kyle Campbell, Grade 7, NRHS
Fall 2011
New Richmond High School, New Richmond, Quebec Canada

Fallen Soldiers

We marched row by row.

To fight our enemy one by one.

We held our heads high.

Comrade next to comrade.

We keep marching through he night.

On ward and on ward we still fight.

Till the break of dawn.

Some soldiers are gone.

The trenches catch on fire.

The fences have barbed wire.

When someone dies.

We always say our good bye's.

Remembrance, A Poem by Selena McWhirter, Grade 8, NRHS
Fall 2011
New Richmond High School, New Richmond, Quebec Canada

Remembrance

They left their loved ones,

They fought to protect us,

Were ever so brave and strong.

Always dreamed big,

Protected our country,

All were amazing heroes.

Not once did they forget the reason they fought,

All wished for the day to come home.

Most left us, not because they wanted to,

But because it was the only choice.

For all those who fought,

Will never leave our hearts.

They fought with much pride and honour,

Never regretted what they did.

There's one day each year, that is all for them,

Remembrance Day is this day.

Courage, A Poem by Selena McWhirter, Grade 8, NRHS
Fall 2011
New Richmond High School, New Richmond, Quebec Canada

Courage

When courage came,

It did not leave.

It kept our soldiers fighting strong.

It lives inside,

Our hearts and souls.

Every soldier had it in them,

By being brave and honourable.

Courage is being loyal,

To themselves and other soldiers.

They all left many loved ones,

To fight for our country.

They faced their fear by taking action.

Courage is a symbol,

Of strength and honour.

Some came home to us,

No longer being missed.

Our country will admire,

Always the courage they had.

Poppies, A Poem by Selena McWhirter, Grade 8, NRHS
Fall 2011
New Richmond High School, New Richmond, Quebec Canada

Poppies

Beneath the trees,

The poppies dance in the breeze.

Though by a lake,

They get a break.

At night the stars shine,

In a never-ending line.

In the day, the sky is low,

As a poppy I will grow.

Years after years,

Poppies never disappear.

We place them on a cross,

To represent our loss.

In November we mark,

The loneliness in our heart.

By wearing a poppy bright and red,

To remember both the survivors and the dead.

Veterans, A Poem by Shade Larocque, Grade 7, NRHS
Fall 2011
New Richmond High School, New Richmond, Quebec Canada

Veterans

These people are not just family members,

That made it back from the war,

With little or no damage.

These men and women are heroes,

And I am pretty sure without them,

We wouldn't be here.

They have risked their lives for the homeland,

No matter if it's Canada or America.

Thousands of people have lost their lives,

Family,

Home,

And friends.

Some of these heroes made it back alive,

Others in coffins.
