Spring would come to the prairie landscape and the winter travel vehicle was stored. The wagons, buckboards and democrats were then used.

We will see many cars during these years driven by their very proud owners; Model T, Model A, Nash, Briscoe and a Reo Speed wagon. As the Town of Lanigan developed with new business, industry, garages, implement dealers, stores, churches and school, the government was pressed hard to make road improvements. Car and truck travel was replacing the horse, Bicycles were used instead of walking, School buses picked the children up from the countryside and dropped them off again.

Alfred Wildeman writes: "I enjoyed riding a bicycle. If the wind was in my face, I would ride the bicycle sitting backwards. A number of us young fellows would ride to Manitou Beach on Sunday. We would have a swim and then ride back. Usually we had only enough money for a swim, but not for food. We had bicycles like the boys have cars now."

Lanigan was home to two very inventive brothers. George and Allister Ingham illustrated a desire to build things from an early age. In 1943, Allister installed a 1 1/3 hp washer machine engine on his bicycle for traveling to school. I'm sure he was the envy of all his schoolmates.
