Cut Knife Grinder, July 8, 1921

The Sunday School Picnic held at Atton's Lake on Friday July 1st was favoured with fine weather in the afternoon and quite a large number turned out. The afternoon was enjoyed by races of all kinds. Ice cream was served to the children by the Sunday school. At 6 o'clock a picnic supper was laid out and all enjoyed themselves greatly.

Cut Knife Grinder, July 15, 1922

A carload of young folks from Unity autoed to the lake on Sunday. They had the misfortune of losing their lunch basket. They claim it was a dirty Irish Trick.

Several autoed to the lake on Sunday and all report the water fine and swimming good.

Cut Knife Grinder, July 21, 1922

The local Oddfellows held their annual picnic at Atton's Lake on Thursday last, a large number of the members being present. The committees arranged a short program of sports, including a baseball game between "The Ladies" (?) and Gentlemen, which was won by the powdered beauties 5-3.

Cut Knife Grinder, August 1, 1924

Successful Boys Camp

More than thirty boys attended camp at Atton's Lake last week under the leadership of Rev. F.J. Gardiner, Cut Knife, Rev. E. Smith Rockhaven and Mr. W.A. Ross of Gallivan assisted by Mrs. Ross as camp nurse and Miss Caleas assistant leader.

At the voting around the camp fire on the last evening the following boys carried off the honors:
Best Cooks- Wilfred Churchman, Stewart McTavish, George Gerts
Noisiest Boy - Jack Stewart
Earliest Risers - Stewart McTavish, George Gerts, Eric Leaver
Best Looking Boy - Eric Leaver
Best Gazoo Player - Billy Lecker
Best Sports - Stewart McTavish, Geo Gerts, Geo McIvor
Best Swimmers - Bill Moore, Stewart McTavish
Most Industrious Boys - George Gerts, Stewart McTavish
The most popular dish in camp was roast beef and the worst dish in camp - Porridge without salt.
The Gallivan boys won the banner for having the tidiest tent.
The camp was greatly enjoyed by the boys and they voted that next year it be prolonged to ten or fourteen days.

The leaders wish to thank those who generously loaned cars and tents for the camp.
